I consider myself lucky because I travel quite a bit with my job as a demonstrator of art. Who was it who said that the journey was just as important as the destination?

I love to get out there in the car and the draw of seeing what is around the next corner is everything for me. I find that very exciting. When there is no traffic on a country lane, I will drive slowly looking for a photo opportunity, stopping and hopping in and out of the car to capture the moment on my phone. Deer, hares, sunsets, you name it.

Since the sat nav arrived on the scene, I know that no matter where I am or where I travel, I need never fear getting to my destination… I now have a guide.

History and archaeology are the biggest draw when I am away. I LOVE a castle or a ruin! When I was young, I would have loved to have been an archaeologist and that curiosity about the past still lingers.

Half the enjoyment of an outing is sharing, hence the blogs and videos. It is nice to think that you are there with me.

Join me in my travels, I will be delighted to have your company.

Our Trip to Orkney

A short video of my trip to Orkney in 2024 with my friend Caroline visiting the ancient sites and taking a dawn ride on the pilot boat to usher a cruise boat into port.

An amazing 2 weeks!

Such a special place. I have been many times and would return in a heartbeat. You can almost feel the history vibrating in the air…

You can watch the video blog here:

Join me and my fellow artist Caroline Strong as we travel around Orkney. Brave and fearless we battle on through howling winds to visit the Stenness Stones, the Ring of Brodgar, the Ness of Brodgar, Hoy and the Broch of Gurness. We were also lucky enough to travel on the pilot boat at dawn to deliver the pilot to a cruise ship. If you enjoy history, scenery and painting, this one is for you!
